Last week was just wonderful! Truly, it was.
It started with dinner in Voltar’s parents restaurant, on Sunday the 25. Great food (tuna-carpacio as a starter, “Springbok” in gin-sauce next, and a pancake with vanilla cream as a dessert for me!), good conversation and just a great evening. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our one year anniversary.
But that was just the start of a wonderful week! On Tuesday Voltar and I went to the Efteling. The weather was not that good, but we hardly noticed, as we had way too much fun! And, we could try out our new camera (now we just have to find out how to put the pictures on internet), which was great as well.
Afterwards, we went to visit my parents in Limburg. My aunt from Switzerland was there as well. My sister came to pick us up from the train stations, and she had brought her well trained ADHD dog, Sjors. So we arrived, Sjors saw us, jumped right into my arms and before I knew, he climbed on my neck! He does that every time….What a welcome. We went to my parent’s house, where my mother had dinner ready. We talked a lot, and it was good to see my aunt again, as we do not see her very often. But Voltar and I were also tired of the busy day, although not as tired as I had expected, so we did not go to bed too late.
On Wednesday I first had to visit the dentist. And found out that he came originally from Schiedam. Back at my parents place a huge meal was waiting for us. It was my parents’ anniversary, and so they had prepared this great meal. Salmon as a started, soup next, after that steak prepared as only my father can, and ice-cream ad dessert. Lovely!
Afterwards Voltar and I had to go back home, as I had to work the next day.
But, Thursday was a strange day as well. We started with a meeting, nothing strange there. But halfway through the meeting, the alarm went of, and we had to evacuate the building. After that we went back and finished the meeting. In the afternoon we visited the “Tweede Kamer”. As we officially work for hem, and have to work with material they make, it is fun to see how the “handelingen” are made. The information we got went deeper that the last time I visited. But still, the best thing was when we were allowed to visit the library there, the old one. The room officially was closed, as the glasswork in the ceiling has to be repaired, but, still, we were allowed in. I just love the room, one steel staircase, balconies you can walk on, and the walls all full of books, four or five stories high. You look up, and all you see is book….Just the way a library should be!
Afterwards I went home, as I was not feeling completely well. My colleagues went out for dinner together. When I came home, Tsai was there, and his girlfriend was coming as well. So I cooked for them. And, although I was not completely well, I did enjoy their visit.
Saturday was another great day. The hobbits would get together and we would go out for dinner. Voltar was allowed to come as well. We went to het Paard in Schiedam. And, lucky me, they had venison on the menu for that week! We had a great evening, talking and eating. And, we’ll do that again! That’s for sure.
So, I received what I hoped for..and, to be honest I needed it. Last week felt like a holiday
